On this page

Transferring a domain to UnderHost moves the registration to our registrar while keeping your website and email working throughout the process. The transfer itself usually takes 5–7 days.

You don't need to transfer to host with us

Your domain can stay at any registrar while hosting at UnderHost. Simply update the nameservers or DNS records at your current registrar. Domain transfer is optional and separate from hosting setup.

Before you start

  • Domain must be at least 60 days old (ICANN rule)
  • Domain must not have been transferred or had its registrant info changed in the last 60 days
  • Domain must be unlocked at your current registrar
  • You need the EPP/Authorization code (also called auth code or transfer key) from your current registrar
  • Your WHOIS email address must be reachable (you'll receive a confirmation email)

Transfer steps

  1. Unlock your domain

Log in to your current registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) and disable the transfer lock (sometimes called "domain lock" or "registrar lock"). This setting is usually in Domain Management or Security settings.

  2. Get your EPP / authorization code

Request the EPP code from your current registrar. They may send it by email or display it in your account dashboard. Keep this code ready.

  3. Initiate the transfer at UnderHost

Go to CustomerPanel → Domains → Transfer Domain. Enter your domain name and EPP code. Complete the checkout (transfers include 1 year of registration extension).

  4. Approve the transfer email

You'll receive an email at the address in your domain's WHOIS record asking you to approve the transfer. Click the approval link. Some registrars auto-approve after a waiting period if you don't decline.

  5. Wait for completion

The transfer typically completes in 5–7 days. You'll receive a confirmation email when it's done.
