As your website changes, you can move to a plan that fits your current workload. Upgrades usually take effect quickly. Downgrades may require a support review if the current account uses more resources than the smaller plan allows.
Upgrade your hosting plan
To upgrade within the same hosting type:
- Log in to CustomerPanel.
- Go to Services -> My Services.
- Click your current hosting service.
- Look for Upgrade/Downgrade Options or Change Plan.
- Select the new plan and complete the order.
If you do not see an upgrade option, or you want to move to a VPS or dedicated server, open a Sales / Custom Quote ticket and UnderHost will advise the best path.
Downgrade your hosting plan
Downgrades are possible when the account fits within the smaller plan's disk, bandwidth, addon domain, email, database, CPU, and memory limits. If the account is too large, clean up the account or ask support which files, mailboxes, or databases need attention first.
Some downgrades are scheduled for the next renewal date instead of being applied immediately. This avoids interrupting service or removing resources that the account still uses.
How upgrade or downgrade charges are calculated
Plan changes are normally prorated against the unused time in the current billing period:
- For an upgrade, you receive credit for the unused portion of the current plan and pay the prorated difference for the new plan.
- For a downgrade, any eligible credit is applied according to the billing system and service terms. It may appear as account credit instead of a cash refund.
- Your next renewal invoice uses the new plan price after the change is active.
Example: If you have 15 days left in a monthly billing period and upgrade from a $6.95/month plan to a $9.95/month plan, the upgrade charge is roughly the $3.00 difference prorated for half the month.
Moving from shared hosting to a VPS
Moving from shared hosting to a Cloud VPS is a not only a plan change. You are moving to a different server environment:
- Order the VPS plan through CustomerPanel.
- Request assistance in a technical support ticket.
- UnderHost migrates your files, databases, and email where supported.
- After testing the new VPS, update DNS.
- Cancel the old shared hosting plan only after the is confirmed working.
See How to manage your Cloud VPS for initial setup after the move.
