White-label branding for agency hosting
Set expectations for UnderHost white-label agency hosting branding, including private nameservers, branded client experience, notifications,
On this page
White-label reseller hosting lets agencies deliver hosting services under their own brand name. Your clients see your company name, logo, and support contact—UnderHost operates silently in the background. This model builds customer loyalty and keeps the hosting relationship under your control.
What clients see
When you set up white-label hosting, your clients interact with your brand, not UnderHost's. They see:
- Your agency name and logo in email notifications and statements
- Your support email address and website for technical help
- Your private nameservers (e.g.,
ns1.yourbrand.cominstead of UnderHost's nameservers) - Your branded onboarding experience and portal (if included in the plan)
- Your agency as their point of contact for all hosting matters
Behind the scenes, UnderHost provides server infrastructure, 24/7 monitoring, security, automatic backups, patching, and technical support to your agency. Your clients never see or interact with UnderHost directly.
White-label reseller hosting gives your agency full control over pricing, billing, renewal terms, and client communication. You own the relationship, not UnderHost.
White-label elements
Standard white-label features available:
- Private nameservers: Custom nameservers like
ns1.yourbrand.comandns2.yourbrand.compoint clients to your agency instead of UnderHost - Branded email notifications: Invoices, payment receipts, and account updates show your company name and support contact
- Custom support email: All client inquiries route to your support address (e.g.,
support@youragency.com) - Agency ownership: You own the client billing relationship; clients renew with you, not directly with UnderHost
- Branded portal: Available on higher-tier reseller plans—login portals and control panels display your branding
- Custom notification templates: Personalize welcome messages, billing notices, and alerts with your agency wording
- UnderHost backend support: When you need technical help, UnderHost supports your agency directly (not your end-clients)
Key benefits of white-label hosting
| Benefit | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Client retention | Clients remain loyal to your brand, not a hosting provider they never heard of |
| Brand control | Every client touchpoint reflects your company identity and professionalism |
| Pricing flexibility | You set reseller pricing; mark up hosting to match your cost structure |
| Support relationships | You handle client support (with UnderHost backup); build trust directly |
| Upsell opportunities | Easily bundle hosting with design, SEO, email, or other services under one brand |
| Scalability | UnderHost handles infrastructure; you focus on clients and sales |
What is NOT white-labeled
Some elements remain UnderHost-branded or are outside the white-label model:
- cPanel control panel: cPanel is UnderHost's property; white-label changes to cPanel itself require your own cPanel license and WHM server (separate from reseller hosting)
- System notifications: Some automated server and security notifications may reference UnderHost systems (not customer-facing)
- SSL certificates: Let's Encrypt branding cannot be changed; this is imposed by the certificate authority
- Nameserver DNS zones: The actual DNS infrastructure is UnderHost-operated; only the nameserver names themselves are your custom domain
- Server backend: Infrastructure, monitoring, and security remain UnderHost's; you don't have direct server access (you're a reseller, not an administrator)
To use private nameservers like ns1.yourbrand.com, you must own the yourbrand.com domain and configure its DNS A records to point to UnderHost's nameserver IPs. UnderHost provides the A record IPs during onboarding.
Prepare your branding
Before implementing white-label hosting, gather the following:
- Domain for nameservers: Choose a domain you own (e.g.,
yourbrand.com) to create private nameservers - Company information: Legal company name, tagline, and description (20-50 words)
- Support contact: Primary support email (e.g.,
support@youragency.com) and optional support phone - Support website: URL to your agency's main website or support portal
- Logo file: High-res PNG or SVG (if your plan includes portal branding)
- Brand colors: Primary and secondary hex colors for portal customization
- Email templates: Draft the style you want for invoice and notification emails
- Billing policy: Decide on renewal terms, grace periods, and support SLA to communicate to clients
Implementation process
Getting white-label hosting live:
- Order a reseller plan: Select a UnderHost reseller hosting package with white-label features
- Submit branding details: Provide all information listed above to UnderHost's reseller onboarding team
- Configure private nameservers: UnderHost provides the IP addresses for your custom nameservers; you add A records to your domain's DNS
- Wait for setup: UnderHost typically configures white-label elements within 24-48 hours
- Test notifications: Create a test account and verify that emails, invoices, and notifications display your branding
- Start selling: Create client accounts under your reseller account; each client automatically sees your branding
- Manage ongoing: Through your reseller panel, add customers, manage their accounts, and handle support
WHM vs. reseller branding
Important distinction: UnderHost's white-label reseller hosting is different from WHM (Web Host Manager) branding controls.
| Feature | White-Label Reseller (UnderHost) | WHM Branding (Your own server) |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure | UnderHost operates servers; you are a reseller | You own and operate your own cPanel/WHM server |
| cPanel branding | Limited control (standard UnderHost setup) | Full control via WHM branding module |
| Cost | Monthly reseller plan ($19/mo - $99/mo) | Dedicated server + cPanel license ($50/mo+ server) |
| Support | UnderHost manages infrastructure and support | You manage everything; UnderHost provides API/support |
| Scalability | UnderHost scales infrastructure automatically | You manage server scaling and upgrades |
If you need complete control over cPanel branding (login page, file manager colors, module names, etc.), you'll need your own dedicated server and cPanel license. The white-label reseller plan is ideal if you want to focus on clients without managing server infrastructure.
