How to change an email password in DirectAdmin
Reset the password for any email account on your DirectAdmin hosting plan. Covers changing it from the panel and updating it in your email client afterwards.
Email account passwords in DirectAdmin are separate from your hosting account password. You can change any email account password from within DirectAdmin.
Change an email password

Log in to DirectAdmin
Open
https://server.underhost.com:2222and sign in with your hosting credentials. -
Open Email Accounts
Go to E-Mail Manager → E-Mail Accounts.

Find the account
Locate the email address in the list and click the account name to open its settings.

Set a new password
Enter the new password in the Password field and confirm it. Click Modify to save.
The new password is active immediately. You do not need to restart any service.
Update your email client
After changing an email password, any email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, iPhone Mail, Gmail app) that is configured with the old password will stop syncing and show an authentication error. Update the saved password in each client:
- iPhone/iPad: Settings → Mail → Accounts → [your account] → Account Password → enter new password
- Outlook: File → Account Settings → select the account → Change → update the password
- Thunderbird: When prompted for a password, enter the new one. Or: Account Settings → Server Settings → update password field
- Android: Settings → Accounts → Email → [your account] → update the incoming and outgoing server passwords
Access webmail after changing
To access webmail via DirectAdmin: go to E-Mail Manager → Webmail, or open your webmail URL directly:
https://server.underhost.com:2096
https://yourdomain.com:2096
Log in with the full email address and the new password.
