Service renewal and auto-billing at UnderHost

Understand how automatic renewal works, when invoices are generated, what happens if payment fails, and how to renew a service manually.

On this page

UnderHost services renew automatically by default. Invoices are generated before the due date and charged to your saved payment method. Understanding the timeline helps you avoid unintended lapses or suspensions.

How auto-renewal works

When auto-renewal is enabled for a service:

  • An invoice is generated automatically a few days before the next due date
  • If you have a saved credit card or PayPal, it is charged automatically
  • On successful payment, the service is renewed for another billing cycle
  • You receive an invoice receipt by email

Renewal timeline

WhenWhat happens
~7 days before due dateInvoice is generated and email sent
3 days before due dateAuto-charge attempted on saved payment method
Due dateService remains active if paid; moves to overdue if not
Grace period (varies)Service stays active but shows overdue warning
After grace periodService is suspended if unpaid

Renewing manually

  1. Log in to customerpanel.ca
  2. Go to Billing → My Invoices
  3. Open the unpaid renewal invoice
  4. Click Pay Now and choose your payment method

You can also pay in advance before the invoice is generated. Go to the service details page and click Renew to generate a renewal invoice early.

What happens if payment fails

If the auto-charge fails (expired card, insufficient funds, PayPal issue), you will receive a failure notification email. The invoice remains open and the service enters an overdue state. Pay the invoice manually as soon as possible to keep the service running. After the grace period, the service is suspended until payment is received.

Disable auto-renewal

  1. Go to Services → My Services
  2. Open the service details page
  3. Toggle Auto Renew to off

With auto-renewal disabled, invoices are still generated but not automatically charged. You must pay them manually before the due date. If you intend to stop the service entirely, submit a cancellation request as well.
