How to check resource usage in DirectAdmin

Monitor disk space, bandwidth, email accounts, MySQL databases, and other account limits in your DirectAdmin account summary.

On this page

DirectAdmin shows a usage summary on the main dashboard after login. It gives a quick overview of disk, bandwidth, and account resource consumption compared to your plan limits.

Account usage summary

After logging in to DirectAdmin, the main user panel shows stats including:

  • Disk Usage-total storage used vs. your limit
  • Bandwidth-monthly data transfer used vs. limit
  • Email Accounts-number in use vs. allowed
  • Databases-MySQL databases created vs. limit
  • Subdomains / Addon Domains-domains in use vs. limit
  • FTP Accounts-FTP users created vs. limit

These numbers update as you use the account. They do not refresh in real time-there may be a short delay before changes are reflected.

Disk and bandwidth

For a detailed disk usage breakdown, use the DirectAdmin File Manager or connect via FTP to check folder sizes. The account summary only shows the total used.

Bandwidth resets monthly. The reset date is usually your account anniversary date (when the hosting was activated). Check CustomerPanel service details to confirm your billing cycle.

What the limits mean

ResourceWhat happens when you reach the limit
Disk quotaNew email cannot be received; backups fail; database writes may stop
BandwidthSite may become inaccessible until the monthly period resets or the plan is upgraded
Email account limitCannot create new mailboxes until existing ones are deleted
Database limitCannot create new databases until existing ones are deleted

When you are near a limit

  • Disk full: Delete old backup archives, clear email trash and spam, remove unused media from WordPress
  • Bandwidth nearing limit: Enable Cloudflare (free CDN) to cache static content and reduce origin server load; check for hot-linked resources from other sites
  • At hard limits for accounts/databases: Consider upgrading your plan if you regularly need more resources than your current plan allows
  • Open a ticket if you are uncertain what is consuming resources or need a temporary limit increase
