Create, download, and restore backups in cPanel. Full, partial, and Home Directory backups — restore files, databases, and email.

cPanel Backup Wizard lets you create and restore backups of your entire account or specific parts: files, databases, or email. Always keep an offsite copy of important backups.
Full account backup
- cPanel → Files → Backup Wizard
- Click Back Up
- Select Full Backup
- Choose backup destination (Home Directory or remote FTP)
- Enter your email to be notified when complete
- Click Generate Backup
Full backups create a .tar.gz archive of your entire cPanel account including files, databases, emails, and settings. They can only be restored by your hosting provider.
Partial backups (files or database only)
- Backup Wizard → Back Up
- Choose Home Directory, MySQL Databases, or Email Forwarders/Filters
- Click the item to download it directly
Partial backups download immediately as a compressed file.
Restore from backup
- Backup Wizard → Restore
- Select what to restore: Home Directory, Database, or Email
- Upload the backup file
- Click Restore
To restore a full backup, open a support ticket with UnderHost — full backups cannot be self-restored through cPanel.
Automated Backuply (if available)
If your plan includes Backuply, you'll see it in cPanel under Files → Backuply. It provides point-in-time restore of individual files, databases, or emails from daily/weekly snapshots.
Don't rely solely on server-side backups. Download a copy to your local machine or a cloud storage service monthly.
